Sisters Lina & Maja Westin blessed these shores earlier this year with the gorgeous video “You’ll Qualify’, taking early adapters of new Scandinavian psychedelic ’60s-oozing music with storm.
Now they announce their self-titled debut full length, out in North America October 9th. The album has been written in Sweden, produced by Mats Björke of Mando Diao and Jorge Elbrecht of Violens in Brooklyn, and mastered by Frank Arkwright at famous Abbey Road studios in London. The US version of the album also contains the bonus track “The Lucky Ones” made in special collaboration with fashion designer Michael Bastian for GANT and his show at New York Fashion Week 2012.

“’You’ll Qualify’ was written in the woods of Gävle (in Northen Sweden), but was first recorded in Chelsea, New York by our friend, producer Jorge Elbrecht. It started out as a raw, bluesy song and turned into this really massive tune, like an anthem! The energy in it is still dead thrilling to us.
The video for ‘You’ll Qualify’ is directed by Clara Tägtström, who had heard the song and got hooked on it. She and Joachim Thörnqvist got together and filmed some real impressive scenes featuring a lot of hair, ass, and dancing, now somewhat of a Caviare Days trademark. To complete these scenes for a full video, we turned to photographerJohannes Helje, one of the most productive photographers in Stockholm.The end result is a triggering, fluorescent journey right into the typical imagery of Caviare Days, a great hint of what we want to accomplish.” – Lina, Maja / Caviare Days

Caviare Days consists of Swedish sisters Lina and Maja Westin. Their driving force lies in creating a well-tailored but dirty rock, that is more baroque than minimalist and more organic than mechanical. Musically described as Psychedelia. The full length album, to be released Oct 9 2012, is produced by Mats Björke of Mando Diao and Jorge Elbrecht of New York based Violens. It is mastered by Frank Arkwright at the legendary Abbey Road Studios and will add an authentic new flavour to the music scene of today. In 2012, Caviare Days are involved in an exiting collaboration with the fashion brand GANT together with the New York based designer Michael Bastian. They created the soundtrack for the mod inspired Fall collection, presented during New York Fashion Week in February and to be released in August. In 2011, Bastian won the prestigious CFDA Fashion Awards (Council of Fashion Designers of America) as Menswear Designer of the Year.
Since Caviare Days started out in New York, this collaboration is the perfect way of closing the circle before becoming a significant entity with the rest of the world.
