“I hear a mix of Coldplay and Muse from this Swedish band. Should be a slam-dunk in North America.” – Alan Cross

Drylight is a Swedish four piece alternative rock band from Stockholm. Members Daniel Lugn (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano, percussion), Johan Thärnström (lead guitar, sampling pad, backing vocals), Peter Bindzau (bass guitar, sampling pad, backing vocals) and Martin Comstedt (drums, percussion, sampling pad) met through a music competition back in 2006.
Drylight has been compared to bands such as Coldplay, Radiohead, Muse but according to themselves those bands never played a huge role in their creative process.
“First and foremost, we just want to develop and explore our own voice as a band. We get inspired by listening to music that is quite different from what we’re doing ourselves. It could be anything from classical to hardcore to dubstep. Like a music junkie constantly looking for new kicks.”
The Pieces to be released in North America 1st May 2012, was previously celebrated with a sold out concert at Stockholm’s legendary rock venue Debaser. The fans loved it and critics agreed that Drylight are one of the most promising upcoming Swedish rock acts right now. Drylight’s alternative rock stands out on the Swedish indie scene, emotional melodies layered with fast drums and powerful vocals are three factors that shape their sound.
“Melody is everything. We try not to set any rules musically or genre-wise for ourselves. We’re just looking to hit the right nerve. The music lifts the lyrics and vice versa. For us every new song is a new challenge.”
