The area Möllan in Malmö is unique not only in Sweden. In just a couple of blocks you’ll find bars, nightclubs and concert venues on every corner. The inhabitants are mainly people under 25, from the Middle East and Sweden, living side by side in a mixed culture. It creates something where it’s as natural to go clubbing on a weekday as having a baklava or halawi with your coffee. It’s in the midst of this you find VED. Music made for dancing and meditation.
VED started as a solo-project by Mattias Nihlén taking inspiration from film music, progressive rock, early electronic music and folk music. From drone-based ambient, the music has developed into a rhythmic machinery with elements of horror movie soundtracks, surf-rock and found cassettes. VED is now a fully developed live band delivering hypnotic instrumental rock music.
